The Hottie Body Fitzness Challenge is my Happy Place!
What are your happy places? I've realized that mine aren't really places. They're people. My family, my close friends and one group. The Hottie Body Fitzness Challenge people are now one of my happy places. That's kind of weird for me.
I'm not really a group person, especially not with people I've never met! I didn't belong to a sorority in college. I didn't join professional organizations when I had a paying job. I don't even enjoy civic groups or volunteering. I find that most of them waste a lot of time. I gravitate towards people who DO things that I like to do. They're homeschoolers, parents, theater people, musicians, etc.
I like to be with people, a lot. I like to look into their eyes and really, really know them. I want to know their stories and see if we have anything in common. That's why I don't usually join big groups of strangers.
This group is different. They don't feel like strangers. We share very personal things about our struggles, goals and triumphs. The only things we offer are support, understanding and encouragement. That's rare on Facebook, or in 'real' life. We don't talk politics. We don't talk religion. We just talk about the things we share and the personal struggles that we're dealing with. When we've overcome something, minor or major, we celebrate our victories together.
If you haven't done so already, I highly suggest you join. Even if you don't think you want to lose weight or get in better shape, just check it out. Read a few posts. Watch a few videos. I can almost guarantee that you'll be amazed by these individuals. It's not a normal thing. These aren't normal people. They are truly special and vital to my success.

You nailed it, this group is different, and it's the people, we are all on this incredible journey that is helping us to be healthier and make better choices, but it's so much more than that... It's hard to put your finger on, but it's pretty amazing.

ReplyDeleteElise, I have loved reading your blog posts from the time I got connected to you, and, as usual, this one is spot on. There is something very powerful about the Hotties that makes it more than the sum of the people there. I am thankful for you being there, and the perspective that you and every other person brings. We realize that we are all flawed people working toward a common goal, and supporting each other along the way. It's my happy place too!
